About this work

Loaded with symbolism, Be Fernández’s still life paintings show the artist's most personal side, representing memories, people, and emotions through the different elements that compose the artwork.

In the scene, the light of the fire illuminates a still life where each element burns, becoming part of the past. Everything in the scene seems to be a contradiction: apparently inert objects, all of them consumed by the fire, but at the same time, intensified by it, making the pieces merge and mix in a chromatic chaos.

“Everything I once was” is a deeply emotive piece. A reflection on change, the passage of time, shedding skin. The author's phrase, "All the things I am no longer, some that I still was, and some that I will never be," inspired this piece, written while watching a sunset.
